A concert for Britten’s birthday (22 November 1913), featuring his A Charm of Lullabies, Op.41, a song cycle for mezzo-soprano and piano, consisting of five songs composed on poems by William Blake, Robert Burns, Robert Greene, Thomas Randolph and John Phillip; Britten’s song cycle Winter Words; and the original upper voices version of Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. The music will be interspersed with fascinating reflections on Britten, with slides, from Dr Nicholas Clark (Britten Pears Arts)
